This feature is now globally available to all logged-in users after a pilot phase. Users can start a group chat by clicking the “people” icon, enabling them to share conversations through a link. ChatGPT has been enhanced to engage contextually, determining appropriate moments to contribute, and users can mention it directly for responses. The feature includes various settings for managing participants and notifications, and it operates using GPT-5.1 Auto for optimal responses. ChatGPT does not retain personal chat memories within group discussions.

Microsoft’s AI-powered copy and paste can now use on-device AI: Microsoft is enhancing its Advanced Paste tool in PowerToys for Windows 11 with the 0.96 update, introducing an on-device AI model for certain features. Users can now utilize Microsoft’s Foundry Local tool or the open-source Ollama to run AI models on their device’s neural processing unit (NPU), eliminating the need for cloud connectivity and API credits for text translation or summarization. The tool also now supports multiple online models, including Azure OpenAI, Gemini, and Mistral, in addition to its previous support for OpenAI. A new design allows users to view current clipboard content and select models via a drop-down menu.
